    About us

Since 2014, the Work Safe Advisory Services team have been working hard to provide meaningful and practical Health and Safety support to our clients. Along the way, we have delivered approximately ten Health and Safety courses per month for over five years. We have conducted more than 40 Health and Safety Audits per year and have helped over 600 organisations implement a Health and Safety System. We aim to provide outstanding support to our clients, create light-bulb moments for everyone who attends our training courses and help businesses identify gaps in their systems. Our goal is that every day our clients and their workers go home safe and healthy.

    Jane Gravestock

    Health and Safety Consultant

    NZDipWHSM | GradNZISM

Jane sees people coming into Health and Safety training, with their head down, and an expectation that today will be another boring training day. Jane is always happy to see those same people leave with a new view about how they can make a difference in their company to keep themselves and others safe. That is her whole focus – transforming each person’s world view of Health and Safety.

When consulting, Jane aims to mentor and guide people to understand how to do this work effectively and to have confidence and trust themselves.

By applying her experience of business operation and through her recent study, Jane has formalised her knowledge and is qualified to Level 6 with her Health and Safety Diploma. This, alongside her adult education qualification helps her provide quality training and support to our clients and their workers.

Here is some feedback from her learners…

“A long day that didn’t feel like a long day”

“Jane was clear and very informative, easy to understand and a great presenter”

    Our Clients say…

We originally held an optional Health and Safety overview course at our site with Work Safe Advisory Services to provide members of staff that had some interest in Health & Safety an opportunity to learn more. Roughly one quarter of our staff attended - a mix of both management & workers. After the course had been held, all attendees agreed that there was value in the rest of our staff taking part in the course, so we made the decision to hold two more mandatory courses. I personally found the course to be engaging & the examples that were given were relevant to our individual business and not just a generic one size fits all approach. Most people in the business were not aware of the individual responsibility, legal obligation & personal liability that they could face from not following "reasonably practicable" health & safety measures or ignoring unsafe work practices. Most people would agree that Health & Safety isn't the most exciting subject but since having all our staff attend the overview, we have found the majority are more willing to embrace implementing new health & safety measures and are more readily giving feedback about situations that could potentially cause harm as well as identifying hazards.

At VSA we are very aware of the importance of a sound health and safety plan for our team but knew we were lacking in some areas. We had Work Safe Advisory Services (Jane Gravestock) perform an Audit of our Health and Safety System at our two Veterinary Hospitals. The exercise was invaluable and we got lots of practical recommendations on how to do things better to ensure the safety of our staff, clients, contractors and visitors is the very best we can provide. The audit experience is hands on, lots of discussion, explanations and sharing of ideas. We were provided with a comprehensive report with detailed guidance on the things we needed to improve. In addition Jane was happy to forward resources to assist us make these changes. She also shared websites that could help us further. We will continue to use Work Safe Advisory Services and Jane in our ongoing work on health and safety. We consider health and safety is a partnership and with Work Safe Advisory Services we have found a partner who will help us keep up to date and ensure we have a robust and practical health and safety environment for all.
